So what's Amazon Echo Show? well basically it's a smart home assistant. It combines the voice assistant features of the Amazon Echo with a 7-inch touch screen and a 5-megapixel camera. It can play movies, Amazon Video content, YouTube, security cameras, weather forecasts, and video chats. All you have to do is ask, Alexa.
The touchscreen is very responsive to touch and it has a powerful microphone than can pick up your voice from two rooms away. The small speaker is pretty good, it can fill your room. It's loud and clear, better than the original Amazon Echo. You can use the Amazon Echo Show to call other Echo Show units for video chats.
The unit is bulky though, it measures 7.0 by 7.4 by 4.0 inches. It has a 7-inch, 1,024-by-600 touch screen in front and below it is a flat plastic rectangular speaker grill. You can see the Volume Up/Down and Microphone Mute buttons on the top panel and the power adapter is at the back. The speaker is powered by Dolby.
It is equipped with a dual-band Wi-Fi for fast internet access, but the Bluetooth is the most important since it functions as both a Bluetooth speaker as well a sound source. You can easily pair your smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth to play music through its speaker.
When you want to use Echo Show, simply say the wake word, “Alexa” and Echo Show lights up and streams audio to the cloud. You can use Echo Show to see a live camera feed from the nursery or your front door for security. It's best use in your kitchen to get quick access to a lot of information like recipe or YouTube videos on instructions on how to cook stuff using only your voice. Overall, it's a very useful device.
